It's common knowledge that summer in your hometown, away from your college besties and 24 hour restaurants, can get pretty boring. You may work and go take summer classes, but that doesn't really qualify as fun. My favorite way to ease the pain of life without exchanges, nights out, and funny drama includes quite a bit of reality television.
There are so many different shows to choose from! "Desperate Housewives," "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," "The Bachelorette"... the list goes on and on. Looking at my TV guide after a long day of work makes me feel a little bit like a kid at a candy store.
It's when the shows become less of a stress reliever and more of a habit that you realize you may have a problem.
1. At least three different shows are in your recordings list.
And if anyone deletes an episode, file of episodes, or takes your shows off of the "to record" list, you feel a little bit like Gretchen.
2. You know the names of all of the main characters.
I know exactly which contestant on "The Bachelorette" you are talking about. Cupcake car guy? Real name Chris. Muscle guy? Real name Ben. Guy that just showed up out of nowhere and royally pissed everyone off? Nick.
~me~
3. You know all of the main characters' relationship statuses.
Like can Khloe and Lamar get back together already? These rumors about that happening are actually getting me through this summer. Kimye? Goals. Kylie? Chill tf out homie he got a kid... two counting you (feel free to shout "burn!", I came up with that all on my own).
R.I.P
4. You know all of the main characters' friends' names.
Oh man. Don't even ask because the things I know about who has what friends and who has mutual friends... embarrassing. All I'm saying is if fame is what the Bachelorette, Kaitlyn, is looking for, she should pick Shawn because boy does he have some pretty A-list friends.
5. You know the time and day of the week that each respective show comes on.
Monday nights at 8 p.m., everyone knows exactly where I'll be. Curled up on a couch with my finger on the volume button so I can hear all the shady things going on during the Bachelorette's group dates.
I have a problem. That's fine. Please comment below if you share this problem. We can meet up and encourage each other.
