Thanks, mom and dad, for giving me the college experience of a life time!

What Your Parents Think You Do In College vs. What You Actually Do

Your parents were in college at one time or another, but back then, their college experience was way different from the one we’re all living now. Here’s what your parents think your college life is like versus how your college life actually goes:

What your parents think you do on a Friday night:

You are taking the night off after a hard week of sitting in the library studying for three exams. You ordered some dinner and are having a movie night with your girls and you are just taking it easy.

What you are actually doing:

By 10 p.m. you’ve already been to five different themed parties, drank yourself way past the point of being sober, and ate about everything you have in your apartment and everything your friend had in hers, too.

What your parents think you do on a Sunday night:

Your parents think you are in bed by 10 p.m. because you have that 8 a.m. the next morning and you want to be well rested.

What you are actually doing:

You are really going to pull an all-nighter doing your homework and all of the studying you never did over the weekend because you went out every single night. Oh, and you have an exam, a five-page paper, and a quiz. All tomorrow.

How your parents think you study for an exam:

They think you studied all week in the library and made an endless stack of flashcards to help you pass the test.

What you are actually doing:

You really got up the morning of the test and said “I should be good if I study an hour before, right?”

How your parents think you take an exam:

They think you analyze every single question and really think about all of the answers in depth.

What you are actually doing:

'I think this is the answer. Yeah, this looks somewhat like the right answer. I guess I’ll choose that one. Oh god, only 10 minutes left! I guess it’s time to fill in random answers. Yeah, I definitely failed that exam.'

How your parents think you spend your money:

Your parents think you are using your money to buy textbooks and school supplies.

What you are actually doing:

When you are not spending your money on “weekend necessities” you are probably at the mall feeding your shopping needs or at a restaurant eating food that is way too expensive, but they have such good food and you’re deciding to "treat yo' self."

How your parents think you stay in shape:

They think you are going to the gym every week and eating salads with every meal.

What you are actually doing:

You are really sitting on your couch eating Chinese food with your best friend.

How your parents think you dress when you go out to a party:

Sure, Mom and Dad, the theme is totally conservative.

What you are actually wearing:

Don't I just look great?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
