Just When I Thought I Had It All Right, The Stars Aligned

As I head into my 23rd year, I am by no means old or at the point where I should be thinking about marriage. But, as my college career ends and I embark on a path to lord knows where, I find myself jealous of the friends who have plans with a partner.

“Well, I am going to nursing school at Fairfield University,” Alyssa Glasow said, a senior at Southern Connecticut State University. “But I will probably move in with my boyfriend Dan after the summer program.”

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.

Anyway, I really want to stop wondering why my plans include nothing but me…so I did some research. Every morning when I wake up, I open online articles on the New York Post and read what notorious astrologist, Sally Brompton, has to say about my day. Then I turn on KC101’s Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, and hear what they have in store for me.

Needless to say, I am an avid believer in astrology. I love the idea there is an answer to how people act the way they do, or why things turn out how they do. With that belief, I did a little research on the compatibility of zodiac signs and as a Sagittarius I should be dating an Aquarius, Aries, or Leo. So, I did some more research…a.k.a looking up every guy I’ve dated on Facebook and checking his birthday. I swear it’s not creepy if its research. I even checked the birthday of a guy I said "hi" to in 2007.

But, guess what? Not one fell into one of my matches. Not. One.

My jaw dropped, my heart started racing, and I thought, "What have I been doing?" I felt lost, like I’ve literally been wasting so much time. My roommates were shocked at my shock, asking me why I cared so much.

According to Sally Brompton's website, Sallybrompton.com, “The four astral bodies play significant roles in the way you handle all your relationships but particularly when it comes to finding a lover, partner and soul mate. Knowing which signs they occupy provides vital insights into your emotional, romantic and sexual desires, demands and behavior patterns."

Sounds pretty important to me, and I believe it wholeheartedly.

So, if you’re feeling a little lost in the love department, maybe you’ve been doing it all wrong too. Check your horoscope, find your matches, and next time you’re at the bar, try asking that cute guy what his sign is.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
