I can proudly say that I am almost nearly done with midterms! And so far I've gotten good marks on them!! I'm so proud of myself that I was able to not only survive, but to do well. Although I must admit, I was very nervous and stressed about every single one of them.
You see at AMDA we don't really do written tests, we have to perform our midterms in front of all of our classmates, and our teachers, and the heads of the department. Think of having to do a speech with your professor, your peers, and the dean watching. That's kind of what it's like.
Needless to say I was pretty stressed! Especially, when I saw my classmates, peers, and some of my friends, crumble under the pressure what was preparing for midterms. Of course I helped and comforted them in the best ways I could, but I didn't want to become as terrified as them.
So here are some tips on how to get rid of the stress and nerves of midterms:
1. Sleep!
Seriously, if you know you don't have class for the rest of the day, or you have an early night, go to bed and sleep! No, I don't mean nap for twenty minutes with an alarm, like really sleep.
2. Drink something warm!
Whether it be hot coffee, or tea, maybe even hot apple cider. A warm drink will make you feel good inside and out!
3. Do something you love!
Do an activity that is completely and utterly unrelated to any class you have! go rollerblading! play on a playground! color! do something, anything!
4. Listen to music!
Put on some of your favorite tunes while studying, or during a study break. If you're a mover and a shaker go ahead and dance. If not, just lay back and relax!
5. Talk to people!
If you're feeling very stressed, or like you're all alone, go talk to someone, whether it be a fellow classmate, or a friend from home, no doubt if they're in college, they probably feel the same as you!
Do something to help you feel less anxious about the upcoming midterms for a short period of time. You might see how it can positively impact your performance.
