Take a break from your workout classes and seek cheaper, more city-interactive ways to workout. Oftentimes, booking workout classes in advance may seem like a waste of money and effort; by the time the class rolls around, you may find yourself feeling sick or tired from a long day of school or work.

The fact that you have to book workout classes and pay in advance through an app for various workout centers is inconvenient because it’s impossible to predict how you’re going to feel at the exact time of that class.

There are many apps and personal strategies that will also allow you to get active throughout New York City without having to deal with booking classes ahead of time. Instead, whenever you're feeling energized and want to be productive, grab your workout mat and your phone and head over to the piers or find a patch of grass in one of the many parks in the city. Then, use one of these fitness apps to help guide you through a strategic, thorough workout.

Sweat is an emerging app designed and formulated by Kayla Itsines. Kayla is a fitness instructor whose app has had and continues to have a major, positive impact on the health of several women who seek an immediate way to get in shape with the help of a guided workout and a strict fitness schedule.

If you choose to subscribe to the app, you get access to various 28-Minute, easy to follow workouts, including yoga and various workouts centered on strength, body, and mind. Along with the regular, moderate workouts, there are several challenges and difficult workouts that you can do. Each challenge tells you which part of the body you will be working and toning.

There is also a section on the app that helps you customize and keep track of your diet by selecting various healthy meals. The main convenience of this app is that you can access it on your phone at any of time of day that you have the freest time and feel most energized, unlike workout classes that you have to drag yourself to, even if you feel like just laying in bed.

Another amazing app is the Nike training club app that takes on the role as your “ultimate personal trainer” and consists of 100+ workouts, clear audio and visual guidance from experts for every move, and plans to help you get fitter, faster and stronger than ever.

The app has expert guidance and instructional audio and video clips featuring Nike Trainers that help you master your technique and get the most from each workout. Also, it allows you to incorporate your own music during each workout by using your iTunes music media selection.

Along with these apps, if you feel like clearing your mind and doing some form of exercise that is less concentration- and format-based, go on a run by the river. You can also rent a city bike and ride through the streets of the busy city with scenic views, rather than doing a spin class where you stay in a single room for 30-60 minutes.

I find workouts to be less straining when I am outdoors interacting with my surroundings and people watching, as I am having fun while still being productive. Try to seek different ways to stay active and fit at your own pace based on your energy level. This way, you can workout and challenge yourself to your full potential.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
