There are a few perks of staying away home, such as getting to meet other students whom happen to be your neighbors, learning to live by yourself and making a lifetime of memories. But, admit it: that feeling when you get to visit home and see your parents or guardians after so long makes you feel all sorts of feels about what you left at home. Specifically, how different home is than dorm life. Here are a few of the things college students feel when coming back home:

1. The realization of not having to shower with flip flops on.

It honestly feels so weird to shower without anything protecting my feet from the shower floors of the communal showers. The fact that there are no clumps of hair and random squirts of soap spewed upon the walls of the showers honestly makes the fact that I get to shower in a clean bathroom eerily weird, but in a good way.

2. That feeling of sleeping on a bed that is likely not a springy Twin XL bed.

Plopping on that bed after a hard day’s work was something I looked forward to every day. My bed is decorated with the mismatched pillow cases to the bedsheets my dad put on for me. Although the beds in my dorm were not bad, I definitely do miss the feel of the bed I have slept on for years.

3. FOOD.

No more of the Dining Commons food (at least for now), and yes to the food that you grew up eating, even the ones that you didn’t particularly liked. Need I say more?

4. Finally getting to binge-watch those recorded TV episodes you missed.

No more having to watch the reruns on Netflix. Now you have an unlimited supply of entertainment right at your fingertips when you come back home, as if you were never really gone to begin with! That is, if you haven’t already seen spoilers through social media.

5. Jumping for joy when making plans to meet up with friends from back home.

Nothing else can make up for the lost time that you have been away from your friends besides actually seeing them in person. There’s just so much to catch up on, and so many stories to be told and heard. That feeling of joy when you and your friends are back in the same city is unbeatable.

6. Getting to drive again.

I can’t tell you the feeling every college student gets when they finally get to spend some quality alone time with their precious car. Blasting out your favorite music while swerving down the streets you grew up with brings the best of memories.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
