This world can be so heartbreaking sometimes.
After these vicious attacks on humanity we’re left confused, angry, and scared. How else should we feel when people are dying at the hands of other human beings?
We don’t know what to do. There are 7 billion people on this planet. The solution to these tragedies is far from black and white. It’s so complicated that we cannot possibly wrap our heads around it all. With these gut-wrenching emotions, it’s only natural to argue. To try and find who’s at fault. To frantically look for a solution. We still feel powerless. What can we do other than point fingers?
We desperately just need to love.
We need to show love to the victims, their families, and our fellow humans who are trying just as hard as we are to make sense of these twisted, violent acts. We need to show love to those around us. To our families, friends, and everyone who may be actively trying to make a difference one argument at a time.
Most importantly, we need to show love to those who are angry. Those who might be verbally lashing out from pure fear. These attacks are inhumane, but the sickening feeling that consumes humanity as an after-effect are deeply, and unarguably, human.
The only way to create a better world is through change. But, as the little people-- the ones who don’t have high-end government jobs with the power to make changes first hand — we need to be rooted in love.
We need to create a better reality through love, not hate or rage or anger. Emotions are powerful, so let’s rally the strongest one that actually has the ability to change things for the better. Create conversations, talk, use your voice, but in everything you do, make sure that you are doing it through and with love. Even if it’s only to give back a bit of warmth to a world that is currently suffering from so much loss.
We can preach acceptance, understanding, and respect until we die, but unless we are actively living through example, our words mean nothing. Don’t get angry at those who have different opinions and beliefs about what our solution needs to be. Don’t combat hate with hate. Instead, let’s choose love.
Stem from love, give love, and be love.
