If you were to ask me what was on my mind right now, I would tell you that the Class of 2022 at Liberty University would be on my mind. Why? Well, recently I attended CFAW, which means College for A Weekend. Juniors and seniors in high school that are interested in Liberty, attend classes, stay in a dorm, attend different activities, etc. Let me tell you a little bit about my new family and why I am so glad to have met them and bonded so quickly with them.

Like most students, there is a group chat for the different years of graduation. Yes, I was in the 2022 group chat because that will most likely be the year that I graduate. Some of the people in the group chat came down to Liberty, and once we all met up, we never left each other’s side. I may be a first-semester student, but I chose to hang out with my CFAW friends all weekend. Judge me if you want too, but you did not have as much fun as I did. I was blessed to be able to spend so much time with them too. Here is where this is about to get sappy really quick. We had planned to share our testimonies that Thursday night, but we ended up in the staircase of the fourth floor of Demoss crying our eyes out like Niagara Falls and praying for each other on Saturday night before everyone had to go back to their hometown. I really believe that God brought every single one of us together for more than just one reason. God knew that we needed each other because we had all lost friends, or we just had a bad influence in our lives that was needed to get away from to keep us in good spirits.

From divorced parents to being molested, this group of young adults still had a heart for Jesus. They challenged me in many ways by “unplugging” and doing “quiet-time” even if I had to wake up an hour earlier than planned. They gave spiritual advice and they were not afraid to make a circle together in public and just pray. Of course, we picked up a few that weren’t in the group chat, but we quickly added them. I really hope that they make the decision to attend Liberty. If they are reading this than they know who they are. I hope that God will show what He wants out of their lives and I hope that they will be able to accomplish that here at Liberty with me.

I never thought I would have the emotional connection with this group and only thought that I would be staying in my dorm like I normally do on weekends, but I was wrong. I walked everywhere. I mean my ankles are sore and there isn’t a thing that I can do about it. I have so much I could say that I could’ve gone into detail about regarding my CFAW weekend as a student, but I guess those are memories that I will just have to keep. It was really hard as each friend had to leave. There were numerous group hugs and lots of tears, but six months will fly by quickly and we will be able to grow our new little family of friends. There is one last thing I need to ask. Wanna meet up at the Rottttt?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
