How To Celebrate The End Of The Semester

Every student has that moment when the semester is over. There is a wave of relief and calmness that washes over them. Here is a list of ways to celebrate another year of college being over

1. Donuts

Treat yourself with donuts. Get one warm out of the oven. Savor it. Enjoy it. Recently a Blackbird Donuts opened up near my school. Instagram was flooded with sunshine and donuts for the first week it opened. What better way to celebrate than with the perfect soft donut with a sweet glaze?

2. Finally go for a run

Maybe you're like me and you never have time for exercise during the semester. Maybe you really just want to get moving. Now that the semester is over take care of yourself and get moving. Go for that run. Go for the scenic run by the waterfront that you've been wanting to take or hit the gym and run in the AC.

3. Read a book that isn't for school

Reading for fun during the school year seldom happens, if ever. As an English major I do a lot of reading of a variety of genres. No class I've been in thus far has let me kick back and read a murder mystery however. I love to read and now that the semester is over I plan to celebrate by reading some James Patterson novels and a young adult novel I bought last semester and has sat on my shelf ever since.

4. Watch that movie you've been wanting to see

Maybe like me there's a movie in your Netflix queue that has been haunting you for all of finals. For me, "Finding Dory" taunted me for all of finals week. The colorful little square on Netflix was calling to me. Now that finals is over, treating yourself to a movie you've been yearning to watch is a great way to enjoy the end of the semester.

5. Take one day off

Maybe you have a summer job like me. Maybe you've got lots of plans with family and friends all summer. Regardless, you just kicked the school year's butt. Take the day off. Wear your comfy pants. Enjoy sitting out in the sun or doing that DIY project you wanted to do. Just take one day and focus on you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
