No matter how much effort you put forth to avoid them, you’re going to come across them. Now that school’s back in session and it’s difficult to watch an entire hour of a television show, but not terribly difficult to scroll through social media for a few minutes every hour, spoilers are ever-present and unavoidable.

However, as an avid social media user who is sometimes behind on her current TV shows, I’ve developed some tricks to keep the spoilers away so I can still enjoy my show when the time comes to watch.

1. Skim the content on the social media platform.

Skimming the news and information on a social media site allows the best of both worlds – being able to keep up with the latest news and funny tweets, posts, and pictures from friends and self-censoring the spoilers.

2. If you do see some type of spoiler, block it from your memory.

If you do see a spoiler, pretend you didn’t. Trust me, it works.

3. Limit the social media platforms that you use while/after your show is on.

As much as I love Twitter, it’s common knowledge that other tweeters will live-tweet a TV show. Flock to a site where live-posting isn’t as popular so that you can still scroll mindlessly through a newsfeed.

4. Don’t search a hashtag.

This is simple – avoid posts that are tagged with the name of your show. And if you see a post with your show mentioned in it, refer to number 2 on this list.

5. Do not watch any Snapchat stories.

You don’t know what’s on a Snapchat story until you open it, so there’s no opportunity for a spoiler alert. Stay away from Snapchat, especially if you follow your show’s stars.

6. Only check the accounts you follow that you know won’t post spoilers.

If you have follow an official account or have friends who may post about spoilers, stay away from their

7. Stay off of social media. Period.

Practice some restraint. Stay off of social media, do some homework, call your mom, socialize with your friends, and you’ll be sure to keep the spoilers at bay.

It may not be easy to avoid spoilers on social media, but it is possible. Be conscious of the content you’re viewing, and when it comes time to watch your show a few days later, you’ll be able to live-post your own spoilers!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
