Wifely duties. This is the term associated in regards to the chores that have been around for centuries, such as cleaning the house, cooking the meals, doing the laundry, and the list only goes on from there. All of these tasks and long to-do lists always seeming to fall into the hands of the women.

Now, this so-called tradition has been around since the Puritan times, the women being known as the peacekeepers, and in the fifties continued to be referred to as the "little homemakers".

But now, in the year 2018, the responsibility should not only fall to women in a household, but to the men as well.

Even with society continuously changing throughout the years, men still seem to think that the only ones that can do chores around the house are the women living there. Chores such as the laundry, cooking, and washing dishes. As long as they do the yard work or fix the broken appliances around the home, that seems to equal out the overall effort of keeping a house standing.

This is not an article to hate on the men in the world but to only point out that doing laundry or washing a dirty pan does not make you any less of a man. Nor, does a woman picking up a power tool make her any less of a woman. The idea that men and women have to fit into gender roles, and live every day as if it were a battle of the sexes game, is completely ridiculous.

Society is growing and changing every day, and sharing ideas of our ancient ancestors is not only "out of style" but just wrong in general.

Don't be afraid to pick up a sponge, or do a load of laundry for the household. Likewise, women, don't be afraid to mow the lawn or get your hands dirty.

Now, most households have adapted to getting rid of gender roles, especially in a marriage. No one wants to say "I do" to someone, and walk into a life where they are told to only do certain things around the house, or only allowed to participate in certain activities. Gender roles, in general, are something of the past.

Men and women can do anything and wear anything they chose. If that means a man wants to flaunt gorgeously blended makeup or a woman wants to cut her hair in a more masculine way, that is fine as well.

The world is changing all around you. You chose the life you want to live. Whether that means embracing gender roles because it makes you more comfortable, or defying them to be an even better you. Everything is up to you. Just make sure, whatever life you are living, you are happy and satisfied. Because no matter what chores you do around the house, what you wear on your daily errands, or who you surround yourself with, your happiness is always the most important thing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
