Honoring A Wizarding Legend

"From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe; she landed on the office floor, bounced once across the office, and soared out the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silver glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.

"After all this time?"

"Always."

Witches and Wizards are flooding the streets of Diagon Alley, and filling the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their all black dress robes as a sign of mourning as they are honoring the loss of their beloved, Severus Snape. Severus, born a half blooded wizard to the witch Elieen Snape and the muggle Tobias Snape, held many positions within the prestigious wizarding school of Hogwarts, including Potions Master, Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, and Headmaster. Although he never married, Severus made no secrets about his undying love for the beautiful Lilly Potter since he was only nine years old. They both grew up in nearby neighborhoods, but upon arrival at Hogwarts, Lilly was sorted into the house of Gryffindor, and Snape was Slytherin. His love for Lillian Evans Potter drove him to switch sides from the dark to the light and played a double-sided agent in the Second Wizarding War. His feelings toward Lilly were used as his motivation to be the unexpected guardian angel of her son, Harry Potter, during his four years as a student at Hogwarts. Without the heroic things that he did without ever receiving proper recognition, Harry might not have been able to survive and kill the Dark Lord, ridding the world of the most dark form of evil there is. Professor Snape was a member of the Order of Phoenix, and played vital roles in both of the Wizarding Wars against Lord Voldemort.

Although at first glance Professor Snape might not be someone you would expect to have such a large heart, if you were to spend any amount of time with him you would see that everything he does, whether for good or occasionally not so good, he was drove to do as a result of his love for a crippling loss of Lilly. Today, tragic as it may be, can be one of celebration as well, because they are together at last. Many students cower in his presence, and even more quiver whenever they make eye contact, but it is without argument that he was an extremely effective teacher, equipping students with what they need to be able to properly protect themselves and those around them.

This tragic death of a beloved man was without a doubt felt all across the wizarding world, and his loss will be felt by many for many, many years to come.

Professor Snape, you will always be loved.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
