An Honest Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

A great movie with quite a few flaws

The third book of The Hunger Games trilogy was my least favorite but they did a good job of making the movies enjoyable despite this. If you haven't gotten around to seeing it yet or just what to get an opinion from someone that isn't qualified to criticize movies at all, you've come to the right place! First of all, the acting, directing, and score were pretty great. I usually don't even notice background music during movies but this one was killing me with suspense it was so good. The movie is over two hours long though so it's a good thing they didn't drag it out too much or it would've gotten old. It was enjoyable though and I recommend seeing it.

I do have a lot of complaints about this movie, though. It's good but still pretty flawed. Okay, I know it can be hard to see past Liam Hemsworth's gorgeous face but Gale sucks. Where was all the love for Katniss before Peeta came into the picture? He doesn't deserve to be in the unnecessary love triangle if he didn't even care until she was taken. That being said, Peeta's not perfect either, just a lot more likable. If you ignore him trying to kill Katniss on several occasions, he's such a sweetheart! I'm glad the didn't keep him tied to that bed the whole movie or it would've really bummed me out.

Call me biased, but Finnick is and always will be the best character in the movies. Between Peeta, who makes me sad for most of the movie, Gale, who's not worth talking about anymore, and Katniss, who I'll complain about next, who is the audience supposed to care about? Finnick! He's the most genuine, likable character there is, and...well I'll stop there. If you don't mind spoilers and want to read more about Finnick, go to the bottom.

Oh Katniss, you're so confusing. Jennifer Lawrence does a great job (as usual, she's amazing) with what she's given to work with, but the thing I can't get over is that Katniss seems a little dead inside sometimes. I believe that she loves Peeta and her sister but I'm not sure I'd know that if I hadn't read the books honestly. That being said, she's still the kind of character audiences want to follow on adventures and she definitely played a big part in making the franchise so likable.

STOP HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS!!!

Why did Finnick have to die?! He was finally happy and starting his family-it's just rude to kill him off like that! Not cool, Suzanne. And Primrose was the whole reason this thing started and we're just supposed to be okay with her getting blown up? Come on! Okay, last thing: Katniss and Peeta's little happily every after epilogue. Just...no. Smart of the writers not to mention the fact that Katniss didn't want kids because having them just because Peeta wants them doesn't seem healthy. His whole issue with trying to kill her also isn't super healthy, but they kind of just glossed over that. Let's just say love cured him so I won't be so frustrated about it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
