Quarantine has really been making me turn into an at-home chef. Working a 9-4 internship from my bedroom has left me constantly re-creating the popular whipped coffee from Tik Tok to satisfy my past Starbucks addiction. My lunch has usually consisted of the same mundane thing since I can't go out as often anymore. It quickly got very repetitive eating the same thing every day.
Yesterday I stumbled upon a post suggesting cutting a bagel in slices instead of the traditional half to make multiple slices of bread. I instantly got super inspired and wanted to try it out the next day with my own twist. I grabbed ingredients of my choice from around my kitchen and created three absolutely delicious and healthy snacks in under five minutes! Not only is this recipe delicious, it is incredibly versatile based on the toppings you choose!
These bagel slices are perfect for anything from morning breakfast to a gettogether snack for guests. Below are three easy steps to help you transform a regular bagel into an unexpected healthy snack.
1. Grab a bagel, and begin slicing.

Yes, cutting a bagel this way was emotionally hard for me too. It just looks simply incorrect. But trust me, it's worth it! Any type of bagel to use for this recipe is great; I personally used a gluten-free bagel and it tasted amazing!
2. Place slices on baking sheet.

Place all of the bagel slices onto a baking tray a few inches apart from each other. You can use foil, parchment paper or non-stick spray while toasting the slices! Wait until all slices of bagel are lightly toasted. I set my oven to 350 degrees and baked for five minutes.
3. Customize your snack.

There are an endless amount of ways to be creative and make toasted bagel slices with your favorite toppings!
I experimented a bit and created three snacks from around my kitchen: cream cheese and strawberries, guacamole, and turkey and provolone. Each snack tasted amazing! I love how versatile this simple recipe is. With so many ways to choose toppings, you can't go wrong with this snack!
Out of my recipes, I found the cream cheese and strawberry bagel slices to be great for breakfast or a midday snack. The guacamole slices are perfect for bingeing Netflix, and the turkey and provolone can be made into a lunch meal!
Committing this bagel crime was totally worth it. Each snack was a 10/10 and I will definitely be making more in the future. My dog wanted to try some as well!
