Beauty and The Beast painted an incredible picture of the importance of home. Belle feels so incredibly upset at first because she is forced to stay in a cold and dark castle instead of at home with her father. But then she falls in the love with the beast and suddenly the castle seems so much happier and warmer. It does not matter where you are, home will always be the place where the people you love can surround you.
In our world, materialistic things are so so important. Where you live and what that dwelling place looks like can be so important. There is a striving for making a house very homey and full of things that make you comfortable. But I would like to argue that the actual house that you live in does not make it a home. It is not what is in the house. It is who. No matter where you go or where you choose to live, as long as you are with the people that you love, it will be home for you.
My family is a victim of the financial issues that our country is currently facing. A little under a year ago, we lost our house. This was the house that I grew up in. The one where I made so many memories with my family and even my friends. The last night in the house, I sat in our old living room that was completely empty. I cried my eyes out. I thought that I was losing all of the good times because of this move and huge change. But my mom said something so important to me. She told me that we would make new memories in the house we were moving to. That just reminded me that the house didn't create the memories and the laughs. We did. So in our new house, we are still all together and are sharing new laughs and making new memories.
I believe that you can also have two different homes. For example, I have a home in my hometown that I was raised in, but I also have a home where I go to college. Many people don't like to call their college town "home" but I think that there is nothing wrong with that. There are people there that you love and incredible memories have been made there. The same thing goes for people who grew up in a city and then halfway through childhood, moved somewhere else. For some, a grandparents house could even be considered home.
I love the idea of having such an incredible home. My family loves me and I love them. The same goes for my friends. In the hard times, we struggle to remind ourselves that sometimes home is all that we have to cling to. Change is okay when you have the people that you love to surround you in it. In the end, it is important to have a house - a roof over you to keep you safe. But what is even more important is who you have with you. I would rather spend the rest of my life in a little tiny house with every person that I love than a huge mansion all alone. When life gets you down, there is one important thing to remember. Home is where your heart is. It is where you have those that you love and want to create incredible memories with. These are the people that will stand by you in the really rough times and laugh with you in the amazing times. No matter where I go in life, home will always be where the people I love are.
