Home Really Is Where The Heart Is

Love is what makes home so special.

Nowadays, it is so easy for us to get wrapped up in what is happening in our lives due to social media, current events, and our daily routines. We get stressed out and sometimes feel a little bit lost. But when it feels like you're up to your ears in stress and you can't breathe, there is always one place you can go to relieve everything. Home.

Wherever, whatever, or whoever home is, you can always count on it to bring you back to a good place. Going home is the easiest way to get unstuck. Even just the thought of knowing you'll be going home can make breathing a little easier.

The second you walk through your front door and fall into the arms of someone you love, everything that was wrong seems to fall perfectly into place, or at the very least it just doesn't matter. Being able to be surrounded by people who love you in a place that is comfortable and welcoming has such an ability to clear the mind and cleanse the soul.

It's so important for people to go home when they need to get away from the stress of their normal everyday lives because it resets everything. Home can be anything, it doesn't have to be a place, but whatever it is is home because it brings joy and light to the person it belongs to. Finding light and joy in your life is obviously a vital need for a positive human experience.

There is really nothing that beats just relaxing at home and not having a care in the world as long as you are there. This may sound counter-productive if you're home because you're stressed about everything you have to do, but you have to calm down and relax in order to get anything done. Once you return to your responsibilities it will be easier to get them done when you've just had a rejuvenating trip home. You also give yourself something to look forward to when you return from home -- your trip back!

If there wasn't something special about going home, there wouldn't be so many songs written about it. It truly is the best place to unwind and understand that everything is going to be okay. For many people, you go back to your roots when you go home or you revisit who you truly are at your core and what is important to you. This resets your mind and the context in which you see the world and the situations you are in.

I think that the biggest part about what makes home so wonderfully revitalizing is love. Love is what makes a home, no matter what home is. When you go home, you are immersed in love and love heals all wounds. They say that home is where the heart is and they aren't wrong.

My mom gave me a book called "Tickled Pink" by Kimberly Montgomery when I was 6 years old and it's all about being cozy and at home; I like to read it whenever I'm feeling a little homesick. There's a quote in it that I think is important to remember: "Home is what catches you when you fall". So, no matter where you are or what you do, remember that your home is always waiting for you with open arms and (hopefully) a warm plate of cookies.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
