Working in one of the most superficial industry and having the whole public looking it must be hard for celebrities to have normal friendships. But, luckily, it seems that a lot of celebrities have made best friends for life. These are three legendary pairs of best friends, subjectively.
1. Matt Damon - Ben Affleck
The pair was the first ones to come up in my head when I thought of best friends in Hollywood. They were friends from childhood, who lived in the same town (They were only two blocks away!). Their mothers were very well acquainted with each other, and their friendship was built on going to school together. Their friendship became famous when they were complimented for the film "Good Will Hunting," which they wrote together. Through the film, they won the award for Original Screenplay at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards. Their friendship is still ongoing. Fun Fact: Ben Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner would point at the pair and say "my darling husband and my husband's darling husband".
2. Jennifer Aniston - Courtney Cox
Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox have been friends since they both acted in the legendary TV series "Friends." In "Friends," they played Rachel Green and Monica Geller, who had been friends since they were six years old. This friendship of theirs has been ongoing behind the scenes. From 1994 on, they have built a strong relationship. When they respectively each shoot a new TV series, the other makes a cameo in it. They also appear together at official press conferences. They are, in fact, so close that the godmother of Cox's baby is Aniston. When they have difficult times, they support each other publicly. For example, when the issue of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce engrossed Hollywood, Cox, making an appearance at Revlon’s Annual Philanthropic Luncheon, mentioned Aniston in an interview with Entertainment Tonight and said, “It’s not about [Jennifer]."
3. Nicole Kidman - Naomi Watts
The friendship between Kidman and Watts is also very famous. They both grew up in Australia and are alumni of North Sydney Girls' High School. The first time that they met each other was at an audition for an advertisement back when they were teenagers. From when they were "fresh off the boat" until now, they depended on each other as they shared similar concerns. Their friendship was shown publicly back in 2015, in Women in Film's Crystal + Lucy Awards. As the recipient for Excellence in Film, Kidman mentioned how she rejected a role in a Jane Campion film. It was a role where she needed to put on a shower cap and kiss a girl but, back then, she "wanted to be the kind of actress with long flowing hair and kissed boys." Then, during her speech, she and Watts put on their shower caps and kissed before the audience.
