Ouch
Our heart hurts a little
I'm not sure where you are from or what your situation is this holiday season but for those that spend holidays away from the ones you love, it can be a battle. Yeah, yeah, yeah…we get over it, the day comes to an end, we get to experience it with others but deep down its difficult and still an adjustment that we slowly learn to deal with.
Our job.
Our education.
Our significant other.
Our life.
It all changes our surroundings and carries us places.
Those places aren’t always where we started, right?
Maybe we are happy it’s not the same.
Maybe we don't like that but can’t control it.
The great thing about a shared holiday is that we aren't alone. A perfect stranger could wish us well on that day and it’s the same exact words we’d heard from that loved one we long for. We are told "make the best of it." We’re supposed to, right? It’s a special day.
As people we don't have to give thanks or celebrate for those we known on a certain holiday day anyway, right? It’s great to show them appreciation and thankfulness among their presences but is that really necessary when we also have 364 days out of the year to do the same. Or 364 days out of the year to celebrate that holiday you missed with them.
It’s the meaning of the day itself that makes it special, with or without our loved ones. It's our heart and the attitude we bring fourth that makes the day. We should remember the significance of the holidays and enjoy it no matter what our surroundings look like or who is in our presences.
The people we are around, the places we are planted, it is all for a reason so embrace it.
Those we love will think of us, reach out to us, and miss us just as much. We're still loved and wanted this holiday season and our location will not change that.
Holidays away from home can be a beautiful surprise and create new traditions, enjoy it!
Don’t let your heart grow heavy, build a new chapter.
~ enjoy the holiday season ~
