Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved the touch, feel, and smell of books but, mostly I loved what books could do to me. Books had the power to transport me into another world, to escape all the pressures of the real world, even if it was just for a little while. Growing up, I would always have a book in my hand, whether it was going out to eat with family or going to the grocery store. Books have become one of my safe havens and here are 10 reasons why.
1. It’s The Perfect Stress Reliever
I mean, who doesn’t love a great stress reliever? Whenever I turn the first page of a new book, all my troubles and worries seem to vanish. It’s like the stress of the world just disappears. Whenever I’m feeling stressed with school, family, friends, and well just life. I grab a book (preferably romance), turn on some relaxing and music, and I’m suddenly at peace.
2. The Best Loner Activity That A Person Can Have.
Reading is the perfect activity for a loner (like me). I can’t go wrong with books.
3. Boosts Vocabulary.
Soon, I will be reading like a professional scholar.
4. I Can Go To Barnes & Noble And Sit For Hours Without People Thinking I'm A Weirdo.
Most people go into Barnes & Noble and leave in 10 minutes. I on the other hand stay until they practically kick me out. I can’t help it. Books are a part of me.
5. Never Lets You Down.
The great thing about books is that it is an escape. I easily get lost in the words of the book I’m reading and forget about the chaos happening around me. It’s my own paradise, and it’s beautiful. People, on the other hand, are bound to disappoint. It's life.
6. The Best Movies Usually Start Off As Books.
Some of my all-time favorite movies like The Notebook, The Fault In Our Stars, and The Twilight Saga were made into amazing movies, however the books were so much better. Although the movies brought the books to life in a “fairly” good representation, the books really take the cake for me because they provide phenomenal details that the movies can’t give.
7. There's A WHOLE Variety of Genres.
Romance and drama are the keys to my heart.
8. You Can Take Them Everywhere.
Stuffing 20 books in my suitcase is the "norm" for me.
9. You Can Never Have Too Many Books.
Who says one book is enough? The more, the merrier.
10. Books Aren't Just For Christmas or Birthdays.
Most people would want an iPad or cell phone for Christmas, but I am fine with just books. I can get a book any day of the week without feeling guilty or worrying about the price, which is another reason why books have my heart.
