I'm here for a good time, not a long time.

On March 19th, 2018, I turned 20 years old, so I figured it would be appropriate to discuss some of the world's biggest news stories over the last two decades. While there are obviously thousands of stories every year, I chose the following because they stood out or I just found them funny. Here goes nothing:

1998- Joseph Scariano is born. Obviously the most important event of the year.... In other news, former President Bill Clinton uttered his most infamous line, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman". Sure ya didn't, buddy.

1999- Six billion humans are declared to be living on Earth. Six billion people, are you kidding me? That's like, a lot of people. I mean... how do we even feed that many people? Jeez.

2001- Wikipedia is created. Where in the world would I be without Wikipedia. I can't even count how many times I've gotten lost for hours on Wikipedia. I start by looking up some soccer player and next thing you know, three hours later, I'm reading about the secret societies at Harvard. Go figure.

2004- Mark Zuckerberg launches Facebook from his dorm room. Oh, the middle school memories. Who has the most friends? How many likes did your new profile picture get? Rates, dates and best feature?

2006- Evidence shows water on Mars. C'mon, we knew back in 2006 that we would have to send it to Mars some day.

2007- The iPhone is released. Looking back, this is one of the events that changed the world forever. Everyone has an iPhone. And if you're the one who makes the whole group chat send real text messages.. I'm sorry you're just a nuisance.

2008- The Large Hadron Collider is created. Apparently it was the most important scientific achievement of mankind. Eh, I don't buy it.

2011- Osama Bin Laden is killed by US forces. Alright let's be honest, no matter what political affiliation you have, you were happy to see this guy wiped out. U-S-A. Also, 7 billion people were declared living on Earth. Wait, I thought we were at 6 billion just twelve years ago...

2014- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappears. We still don't know what happened to that thing. How does a massive aircraft just go entirely missing. Riddle me that.

2016- You know what this has to end with. Trump elected President of the free world. That story is still in process. Unless Stormy Daniels has anything to say about it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
