Today, it is very rare to find anyone who does not own a smartphone. Possibly even more rare is finding anyone with a smartphone who does not have at least one of the following social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc.

It is all too common for someone to share, like, tweet, and comment on things so much that we become all too consumed in what others think of us, and the way in which we make our lives appear to our followers and friends.

Everyone’s profile is simply an authentically fake way of representing one's self in the best way possible.

I’ll be the first to admit that yes, I am a part of all the above social media platforms and I have at times been seduced by the ever hypnotizing imaginary world of Instagram, Snapchat, and other sites.

But I’ve learned that good can certainly come out of the Internet, such as from platforms like The Odyssey.

When information that is important is shared with others and serves a purpose, that is when there is definite good coming from the Internet.

This kind of good on the Internet can also be found in a site created by one of my favorite actors, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Dubbed the “website where we make things together” Hit RECord is a website unlike any other. Created in 2004, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s new site didn’t start gaining huge popularity until its TV show launched in January of 2014.

Once the TV show informed viewers of the amazing collaborative possibilities of the site, more and more people began to join the site.

On the site, you essentially make an account and are capable of collaborating on multiple pieces of writing, art, cinematography, graphic design, and much more.

So let’s say someone started drawing or sketching a scene for a poem. The next person who picks up on this collaborative task can decide to make up a story for this drawing or even turn it into a video.

Whatever it is, the end product is always a mix of different people’s work, and that’s what makes this site so amazing.

By working with the Hit RECord community, you inevitably meet new people in a means to create something beautiful.

If you’d like to be a part of this community and join others with a passion for collaboration, visit https://www.hitrecord.org/

Happy collaborating!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
