The "War on Women" Continues in 2016

Politics is about picking your poison, the lesser of two evils disguised under the veil of our two-party system. 2016 is in fact the year of evils, softened by two historic firsts, a billionaire outsider, ex- reality show host extraordinaire turned politician and the first female nominee to represent a major political party.

The latter is often touted as being “revolutionary” for heading the fight to shatter the omnipresent glass ceiling. Contrary to popular opinion, Hillary is not the political Messiah women have been long-suffering for, regardless to what anatomy may tell you.

Hillary’s impressive political career has grown from the successes of her husband, and it is on his back that she has since rose to political stardom. There will forever be a Bill Clinton without Hillary, but would there be a Hillary “the politician” without Bill? Most likely not. What does this teach us? Women should be complicit and dependent upon cheating male womanizers to propel forward in their careers.

What else has Hillary taught us? Empty promises, hypocrisy, and betrayal. She is continually advertising wage equality like a fine wine, yet declines paying women equally in the Clinton Foundation. According to the Daily Caller, “male executives at the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation earn 38 percent more than women executives.” Donald Trump, who Clinton has purported to be a sexist, even pays women working for his campaign more equally. Although still abysmal, men are paid 35 percent more than women, a smaller gap compared to the Clinton Foundation’s 38 percent wage discrepancy.

Furthermore, the Clinton Foundation has exacerbated state-sponsored sexism by accepting millions of foreign donations from flagrant anti-women and anti-LGBT administrations, namely Saudi Arabia, Oman, Algeria, and Kuwait. By doing so she is inadvertently legitimizing and conceding to brutal executions, genital mutilations, honor killings, the inability of women to drive, etc. She is ultimately a puppet to the Middle East and other nefarious regimes. She will be required to overlook detestable treatment of women to preserve the millions in her arsenal she will depend upon to defeat Trump.

Her hypocrisy in terms of women’s issues does not stop there. Recently a section was omitted from Hillary’s website stating rape survivors “Have a Right to Be Believed,” after an uncomfortable interview during which Hillary was asked if the victims who alleged rape against her husband were believed. Long story short, rape victims should be believed unless they shall call Bill into question. And when the Monica Lewinsky scandal materialized, Hillary publicly shamed her as a “narcissistic loony toon” and alleged her own "failures as a wife" as a reason for the affair. What was Bill’s punishment for infidelity? A continued chance to run the most powerful country in the world and keep his damsel in distress wife by his side. Hillary has turned on her own “values” and even freely condemned victims of her husband’s sexual escapades to avoid a publicity faux paus.

It is this inferiority of women that Hillary thrives off of to feed into her own political ambitions. She will scream sexism until she gets elected, hoping everyone turns a blind eye to when she herself perpetuates the problem in the most vile ways. In the end, women are still disenfranchised and looking for a candidate that will eventually present our distinct needs. Until then, we are stuck with these two mediocre options.

Better luck next election.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
