Hey, I don't know if Hillary Clinton supporters know this, but there still is a race going on in the Democratic Party. Clinton won six states during Super Tuesday, but Bernie Sanders has won a few states after that. While I'm writing this article Hillary Clinton is currently winning by 187 delegates (not including super-delegates which can change their mind at any point in the race). It's far from over people.
The reason I'm bringing this up is because apparently a lot of Hillary Clinton supporters apparently think it's over and that a win is inevitable. The thinking that Hillary Clinton is inevitable is OK. Obviously everyone wants and thinks that their candidate is going to win -- the problem is what you do with that mentality.
Since Hillary Clinton is obviously going to win the Democratic primary, apparently we aren't allowed to criticize her anymore. I was watching a video on YouTube about the election and the hosts of the show mentioned this article.
The article, written by Michael Tomasky, is an elegant and thoughtful piece about how it's time for Sanders to get in line. Sanders needs to stop the "food fight" of calling her out for her speeches at Goldman Sachs and all the rest of her iffy past.
The author goes on to explain that, yeah, Sanders won some states, but some of the caucuses were weird, so they didn't count (never heard that explanation before), Vermont was a given, and a whole host of other nonsense.
Apparently Sanders needs to just know his role. What is his role? His role is to be the leader of the progressive-keeping-Clinton- honest part of the party.
It's not just this guy either. I've heard it from people on TV and even from people I know that Sanders just needs to go away and let Clinton focus on the general election. I hear things like Sanders is doing the Republican's dirty work for them. Ever thought maybe your candidate just isn't as good as Sanders? If your candidate has that many flaws why are you blaming Sanders and his supporters for calling her out on it?
What are all these pundits, authors and regular people trying to say? Shut up, stand in line, and do as your told. It was fun for a while, you got all riled up for Sanders, but now it's time to move on.
Why should I just accept that it's going to be Clinton and not continue to fight for the things that I believe and the things that trouble me about Clinton. Why would I would I be satisfied with a candidate who has to have a part of her party to "keep her honest." Why wouldn't I just vote for the honest one to begin with and not have to worry about any of that, essentially cutting out the middleman.
American citizens are funny to me. It probably isn't an American phenomenon, but when I think of average people talking about politics these are a few of the constant themes I hear: I want someone that works for us; I don't care about politics, every candidate is the same; they're all in bed with the lobbyists; all politicians lie; and my vote doesn't matter because nothing will change.
So finally a candidate comes along who tells you the truth, has been on the right side of history for literally four decades even when it's not convenient, isn't bought off by lobbyists, who will work for you and will make a difference in your everyday life, and we just brush him off. He's a crazy left-wing kook, he isn't electable, or a socialist that wants to give "hard earned money" away from working people and give it to the lazy people who don't work.
I'm sorry Clinton supporters, but it's not over. Our socialist un-electable candidate is here to stay. We aren't going to bow our heads and do as the establishment pleases, we're going to fight for a more perfect union where no matter where you start out in life, black, white, rich or poor, you have an ample shot at success.
