2016 was quite a year in America. From the controversial presidential election to the death of a beloved gorilla, our county has been through a lot. To commemorate all that we have been through, I highlighted the major events that happened this year through some of the most popular memes shared in 2016:

We had a Presidential election

.....in which very important issues were brought up and thoroughly discussed.

We were able to put our different political views aside to come together to mourn the death of a beloved Gorilla.

We expressed ourselves more than we ever had.

..... yet there were still some things we kept to ourselves.

We were better able to decipher right from wrong this year.

A kid named Daniel helped make the word "damn" become more socially acceptable to say in public.

Spray tans made a comeback.

We sought after men that can "do both" this year.

We were unexplainably concerned about dogs wearing pants.

But most importantly, we (barely) survived another year.
