High school is a very fun time of your life and for me my high school career was largely devoted to being in band and furthering my playing abilities for the betterment of my personal success and group success of the band program.

High school band taught me a lot of lessons and I hope that you can learn from them and apply them to your life as well.

The cornerstone of the success of your success in a concert or marching band is being able to work hard and apply your skills that you honed in practicing and apply and adapt them in the context of playing with the band. To be successful most people have to put in a large volume of hours to learn the music and make it sound good.

You might be one of the few exceptionally talented people that doesn’t have to practice as much as the rest of the band. However, that wasn’t me. I was forced to spend a large amount of time to be able to be successful and this has shaped me into the diligent worker that I am today. All in all, the best way to be successful is to buckle down, and work hard and you will be rewarded in the end.

In marching band there is an amazing sense of unity that is an incredible feeling with your fellow band members that you are performing with. When you are performing with your fellow bandmates and you have to spend an immense time with them you are able to form very strong bonds with them.

The friends that I made in high school band are amazing people and I know that they will be a part of my life forever. This was incredibly valuable going into college where I wasn’t familiar with the environment and didn’t know a ton of people. I had the confidence that I needed to invest my time with other people to create strong friendships with new people. Dive into organizations and make time for others and you will be rewarded with strong friendships and relationships that will encourage you and make life enjoyable for years to come.

One of the most beautiful things that marching band has given me is an incredible sense of appreciation for music and the incredible talent of musicians.

I love music and the way that it can make me feel different emotions and bring back incredible memories. There are a ton of songs that are so cool and listening to music can be such a moving experience. I encourage you to dive into music and to not be afraid to explore new music and find an artist or group that you like.

Music is something that transcends the language barrier because, it evokes emotions that all people can feel. I know that this appreciation of music will benefit me in the long run as I am given new opportunities to connect with others.

High school band is something that is near and dear to my heart and I am so glad that I was able to experience it. It has taught me things that have shaped me into the person that I am today. I hope that you can learn from these lessons and that you can resonate with what I have experienced.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
