Why You Need To Join An MAB Trip Before You Graduate
Cassidy H Cunnyngham

Do you want to join an organization that is bigger than yourself? Do you want to make an impact on other people that will follow you for the rest of your life? Do you want to feel happy at the end of your time spend on a trip knowing that you’ve done the most that you can possibly give? Well, if you’ve answered yes to all of these questions then you need to join an MAB trip.

MAB is a Mizzou Alterntative Spring Break trip. But what you don’t know if that they have fall and spring weekend trips, Thanksgiving break trips, and intersession winter trips along with an international summer trip! WOAH! Are you super interested now? Well yeah, you should be. MAB offers so many different things that you can get super involved in.

What you don’t know when you sign up for an MAB trip is that you’re going to make friends, laugh, cry, and experience things that drinking on a beach can’t offer you. During Spring Break, I get to serve at the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. Let me just tell you, for 9 days I got to spend time with the strongest and bravest young kiddo’s fighting battles that we’ll never be able to know about. I got to spend time with 10 other amazing and inspirational service leaders who made me so happy, so sad, and so thankful for them. These aren’t things that you know when you sign up for MAB.

My favorite part about MAB is the memories. For 9 days I got to talk about my life, my experiences, and hear about others’. I got to share advice, receive advice, and laugh about so many inside jokes. Even to this day we have a group chat going. Those are not things that they tell you when you sign up for a MAB trip.

They don’t tell you about all of the moments during your trip that you want to cry because of how thankful you are of your life. They don’t tell you about the times that you’ll pray for the people that you’re serving. They don’t tell you that when you get back it's hard to adjust because the service life is just so much fun and is so underrated.

You should join an MAB trip because of the life experiences, the love that you receive and the way that your heart expands like it never has before. During my trip I got to walk about the beautiful area of Memphis. We got to try fabulous meals and do fun activities while in Memphis. We bonded like the dysfunctional and exciting family that we are. At the end of our 9 days, we knew each other like the back of our hands so it was only fitting that when we said our goodbyes, tears were rolling down our faces.

Join MAB for the change of heart, for stepping outside of your comfort zone and for you. Do it for the little girl who looks up to you and do it for your grandparents. Do it for everyone who can’t and everyone who can because the amount that you’ll grow is beyond what you handle.

Peace, love, and MAB~!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
