For some people, their last semester went great. For others, it didn't go so well. But I think we can all agree that we all want (need) the next semester to go great. It's going to be tough, but I believe in all of us! It's going to be hard, spring & summer are right around the corner but that's even more encouragement to push all the way through to the end. Here are my tips for not only getting ready for this semester, but tackling it and doing the best that you can.
Think ahead.
Now that you know how one full semester of college works, you can plan ahead for what is coming next. Learn from the mistakes that you made last semester. You know that if you have an early morning Friday class, and you go out on a Thursday night, it's going to be really hard to get up in the morning. Don't skip that class. I know it's hard, and it might be slightly painful but I believe in you!
Print off the syllabi & get your textbooks.
Most professors put their syllabi online before classes start, so my suggestion would be to print that off and become familiar with that professors procedures and guidelines for class. You don't have to be the kid in class who has the syllabi learned, but being familiar with it wont hurt at all. Plus this gives you an opportunity on the first day to ask any questions that you might have.
Find your stress outlet.
Last semester it was very easy for me to become overwhelmed and just shut down and shut the world out. This semester I want to find something that I can channel all of my stress into instead of those around me. Something that I can do that I can leave clear headed and ready to attack the next challenge ahead of me.
Spend time with your best friends.
Your best friends are going to be your rocks. Lean on them. Count on them. They will always be there for you, especially when you're going through life changing things. Lunch with my best friends will always make me feel better. I feel very lucky that I also get to live with my best friends.
Call your mom.
Mom's will never go anywhere. They'll always answer the phone and tell you they love you. Don't forget to call her and tell her how much you miss her and love her. That'll mean the world to her. Moms, or maybe even dad's make everything better.
Don't worry, whether your first semester was good or bad, we can always make everything better. I believe in all of you, and you can do it! Don't give up!
