Here's To All The Girls Who Can't Be Handled

The truth is, if someone is having trouble accepting your utter brilliance just as you are, then they are not capable of handling all that you will bring to the table.

Here's To All The Girls Who Can't Be Handled

The time you were told that you were 'too short' or 'too tall' when you were in the third grade changed your whole outlook on yourself. You never thought you were 'too anything,' but now you do because someone else put that on your mind. You have mixed feelings about a quality that you cannot change about yourself. What do you want from her?

The time you were told that you were 'too loud' when you were in the fifth grade by one of your close friends resulted in you closing your mouth more. You decided to smile and nod instead because you didn't want to be 'too' anything; however, you were then accused of being too quiet. What do you want from her?

The time you were told that you did not wear enough makeup when you were in the seventh grade resulted in you begging your mom to buy you some mascara and blush because you just wanted to fit in. Words fluttered around school that you "would be prettier with makeup," and you just wanted to live up to everyones expectations of a 'pretty girl.' But weeks later another girl in your grade was labeled as 'fake' because she wore too much makeup. What do you want from her?

The time you were told that you were 'too boring' when you were sixteen made you feel as if you needed to transform into the life of the party, so that's exactly what you tried to do; however, you were then told that you were being 'too wild.' What do you want from her?

The time that you were presented with the notion that smart girls were undesirable when you were eighteen was something that you really struggled to wrap your head around. Intelligence wasn't appealing, but you were constantly hearing about the 'dumb blonde girls' at your school. So which is it now, too smart or too dumb? What do you want from her?

What do you want from her? Why do you think you have the right to tell her that she is 'too' anything?

You don't. I don't know who told you that you did, but you don't. Stop labeling people. Stop shoving it down her throat that she needs to live up to society's definition of a girl.

You are not too loud, too short or too tall. Makeup or no makeup, that's okay. Party animal or bookworm, that's okay too. Oh, and guess what? Knowledge is power, ladies. You could change everything about yourself, but the voices all around you will still find something in attempt to bring you down a pedestal.

Whether she hears that she is 'too' anything when she is eight or eighteen years old, it sticks. Do not be the reason why she feels as if she has to fake who she is.

Those times that you were told that you were 'too much' or 'too little' of anything? They were wrong. Just because you are not their cup of tea doesn't mean you're not somebody else's on a relaxing Sunday morning.

Wake up each day and be the version of yourself that makes you happy. Throw away the mask that you put on every morning in order to blend in with the crowd. Do not let the nasty words that flow out of their mouth chip away at all the soul and beauty that run within you.

The truth is, if someone is having trouble accepting your utter brilliance just as you are, then they are not capable of handling all that you will bring to the table. They cannot handle being outshined by the light that radiates from you. They cannot handle the thought that maybe you do not need them.

I'll say it again: you do not need them.

The people that make you feel as if you are 'too' anything are not people that you need. You are not too much or too little. You are just enough of all the right things. They simply cannot handle all of incredible aspects that come with your presence.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
