To Those Who Helped Me Get Through My Freshman Year

My freshmen year of college was sure as hell not easy in anyway shape or form. It was a tough time adjusting from being home with adults around to coming to school where you lived with all people your age. There are a few people that really need to be thanked for how they helped me. If it weren't for them I wouldn't have been able to make it through my first year of college.

My Best Friend from Home.

Sure, you weren't here in person to help me with all my problems but you were a FaceTime or text away and you always made sure you were there for me. You made me smile in my toughest moments and you helped me fight off all the awful boys that tried to come into my life. I miss you so much and I can't wait until we reunite in a couple weeks. It's going to be such a great feeling to hug and eat junk food late at night. It's crazy that we are both finishing our first year of college, it's hard to believe it. We've been through everything together and we will be together for the rest of our lives.

My ex-best friend at school.

Sure, you were probably the worst thing to ever happen to me, but I still have to thank you for the times we had before we hated each other. You made my school year kick off to a great start but we just lost each other in the madness of all the schoolwork and drama and I'm sorry for that. But, you did stab me in the back and for that, I had to say good-bye and good luck next year.

My friends at school.

You are the people I should be thanking the most. I know I was an emotional mess this year, from missing my home and having FOMO (The Fear of Missing Out) but you all helped me through it. Whether it was late night talks, Wendy's runs, or going out together you all helped shaped me to be the person I am today. I'm so thankful for every single one of you who have helped me. If I was to mention all of you the list would go on and on. Sure, we might have had our up's and down's but you people helped me through rough times in my life and I'm so extremely happy I met you people and can't wait for another year ahead of us. No matter where we end up, neighbors or not.

My Parents.

Thank you for always believing in me even when I didn't do my best. I know I hit my rough spots this and last semester but you guys always pushed me forward to do bigger and better things for not only myself but the people around me. You guys have been the most influential people in my life, believe it or not, and I will never ever be able to repay you for everything you've taught me. I know it's hard to believe that your little baby is already heading into her second year of college. It's hard for me to believe that too but, it's a good feeling to know that I did it with the help of my amazing parents.

My Boyfriend.

Surprise, surprise, once again you are in another one of my articles. I know we only really started dating and getting to know each other towards the second semester but you helped me change who I was becoming into someone so much better. I will never ever be able to thank you enough for what you have done for me. You spun my whole world around when I first met you. You mean the absolute world to me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
