The crisis in Syria is one that has been making headlines in world news since its conception. The country is currently deep into a civil war that started back in 2011 during the Arab Spring, after President Bashar al-Assad's government violently repressed revolutions and the government openly refused to negotiate with "armed terrorist groups." Many international crises have arose because of the civil war, most notably the Syrian refugee crisis that has consistently been a subject of news headlines, and has been called the "worst humanitarian crisis since World War II."
Oftentimes with international crises, such as the one in Syria, it can feel like there is not much we can do but sit and watch, and hope that our governments can do something to help these displaced people. However, here are ten organizations that are currently working with Syria, and here's how they're offering support to the people of Syria:
1. British Red Cross
The British Red Cross has been helping displaced Syrian citizens, as well as those who have not been able to flee the country by delivering food, medicine, and blankets to people. They are currently working in Maday, Kefraya, and Foua. The BRC is currently working in Syria, but have stated that if they receive a surplus of money to care for those in Syria, the funds will be used elsewhere to help to respond and prepare for other human disasters throughout the world.
A donation of £50 (equivalent to $60.92) could feed a family for two months.2. British Red Cross
The White Helmets are also known as the Syria Civil Defense. The group is a volunteer civil defense group, and work separately from the Syrian government. The White Helmets bravely work to rescue people from the rubble of destroyed buildings. Donations received go to pay for injured White Helmets, support the families of volunteers killed in action, help volunteers get back on their feet, and replace lifesaving equipment that is destroyed in bombings.
3. Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
Doctors Without Borders is an international organization that places doctors in areas of greatest need and deliver emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or any kind of exclusion from healthcare. MSF currently has eight hospitals in Aleppo, runs six facilities in northern Syria, as well as 150 health centers across Syria.
4. Preemptive Love Coalition
The Preemptive Love Coalition helps to address basic needs of displaced person, which includes water, shelter, basic medical needs, and food. When these are all provided, donations go to rebuild the lives of those displaced through empowerment grants that allow for work opportunities, as well as children to get back into education. Currently, the Preemptive Love Coalition is feeding more than 20,000 people and provide shelter to those left without homes.

The IRC has worked to provide emergency relief to those who have been uprooted by conflict, including emergency healthcare, providing the displaced with clothes and emergency supplies, education for children, counseling and protecting, and offering job training and support to those that were displaced.
7. Hand In Hand For Syria
Hand In Hand For Syria takes emergency aid directly to those living in high risk areas and trying to survive in extreme situations. The organization provides food, clothing, water, sanitation and medical aid.
8. Karam Foundation
