Dear Heavener Career Week goers,

This may be the best of times and the worst of times. You may secure an internship or die trying. Being in the business school this week is always a struggle because I feel the stress leaping out from the walls of the buildings. I can't even imagine the stress of the wonderful faculty and staff that put this week on. It is filled with dozens of top companies coming to recruit UF's top talent. It is definitely a stressful week for not only students but also our faculty and staff.

This week is great because there are little workshops different companies put on where you can get to know their employees/recruiters personally and understand more about the different internships/positions available and what the company is about. If you don't like the craziness of career showcase, this is a great first step. By attending the session of a company before you go to career showcase, you can set yourself apart because the recruiter will have already seen you the day before. You can also go to career showcase first and then go to different workshops throughout the week. Recruiters will remember you better if you give them more face time. Even if you don't secure a position out of these interactions, these are still important connections to have for the future.

In case you haven't been told a million times like I have, I will repeat it. Networking is essential. Networking is crucial. Eat, breathe, love networking is your new mantra, especially if you are a junior or a senior.

Freshman and sophomores do not stress out as much. My advice to you is to not worry as much because if you are goal-driven and work hard, the right internship will come along your junior year.

Heavener Career Week at UF definitely fills us all with many emotions, both positive and negative. It is a wonderful way to meet companies, recruiters, old interns/employees and interact with other students. However, the older you get the more stressful these interactions can be. It is important to just be yourself and make the best of any situation.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
