He Knows What He's Doing

“We can't always see where the road leads, but God promises there's something better up ahead. We just have to trust Him.”

He Knows What He's Doing

As a college student, I am learning to balance classes, emotions, living away from home and in a more larger stance, my life. Life is a beautiful gift. However, it is not always an easy journey. I’ve learned sometimes my plans are not always God’s plans. As a human, this can be hard to understand. People tend to question, “Why?” This can be such a difficult question with such a simple answer.

His Way Is Not Our Own Way

Sometimes I feel that I put all my time and energy into some things that simply did not work out. Our way is simply not God’s way. This can seem like a straight-forward and sometimes harsh statement, but it is true. His thoughts are not our thoughts. God is an infinite God who knows our life from beginning to end. I know it can seem very difficult to grasp, but it is suppose to be. He puts us through different experiences as a test. He tends to close doors so that others can open. God knows everything, and he knows the answer to the, “Why?” question. He promises to never put us through too much that we cannot handle. Through our struggles we grow as daughters and sons of the King.

He Promises To Help During Difficult Times

As students, we tend to spend a great deal of time adjusting to college. We are still young adults, but we are learning independence in an adult world. This can all seem overwhelming and scary at times. During these overwhelming times, we sometimes feel alone. We sometimes feel like no one is there to listen or to guide us. However, we must always remember that God is always there. Sometimes, He gives us alone time as time to grow closer to Him. He will move distractions, so that we can grow closer in a relationship with him. During these times, never believe you are alone. God is always there, He is just sometimes quiet. He promises to provide wisdom, peace and a relationship to talk to Him. He never leaves us.

Love And Trust God

Love can be a very overwhelming and misunderstood subject. Whether it’s dealing with family, friends or dating relationships. People tend to lose faith and trust in love. As college students, we are in the world of dating. We tend to search for the man / woman that God has put on this earth for us, when we do not need to search. God reveals this in his own timing. Many people wonder, “Why haven’t I met that special someone yet?” or, “Why didn’t this relationship work out?” Trust me, I wondered this for many years. God sometimes does not allow us to meet the person we are meant to spend our life with, until a certain time. We sometimes do not understand why we cannot be with them at this time. He gives us time for many different reasons. Sometimes to grow us. I can say this from experience. God wants us to have a strong relationship with him, before we have a relationship with another son / daughter of the King. Through our waiting time, we must show trust and love in Him. We must trust that He knows what He’s doing, and He will reveal things in His own time.

I know life can be scary. Events can happen that change the plans, whether it’s a breakup, death, sickness or closing of a door. We must take all of our worries and burdens to the Lord, and we must trust and believe that He knows what He is doing.

"But He knows where I am going and when He tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.” -- Job, 23:10

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
