Morgan Dean On Her Platform As 1st Attendant To Miss Tuskegee University

Introducing Tuskegee University's own Ms. Morgan Dean. One of my best friends she is truly a definition of a hard working woman. She has the grace and passion to always ride to the top. Also she is the first attendant to Miss Tuskegee University and Spring '16 member of the Gamma Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. But do you know her story?

Recently I was given an opportunity to interview her and I was left with astonishment and life skills that college and any student out there should be aware of.

What did you plan to bring to Tuskegee University as Miss Tuskegee University? Does your platform still stand as now 1st Attendant? - If so what our so things you plan to use.

"As 1st Attendant to Miss Tuskegee University my platform still stands and I would still like to implement my platform that was, The D.E.A.N’S List, Delivering Excellence, Accountability, and Nobility to Mother Tuskegee. As students of Tuskegee University, and beneficiaries of the Tuskegee Experience, we are all called upon to represent our beloved Mother Tuskegee by aspiring for excellence in all that we do. I will work diligently to establish a level of accountability amongst students, faculty, staff and administration to ensure that we enhance our campus life at Tuskegee. We should all strive to live lives of nobility by paying it forward. I would like to Pay it Forward by launching a monthly day of service that will positively impact not only the campus, but as well as the community."

What's your major and goals after college?

"I am currently pursuing a bachelor of science in Environmental Health and Safety with a option in health. After college, I would like to attend graduate school and pursue a masters and PhD in Environmental Health and Safety."

What person inspires you to get up and keep moving?

"My grandmother inspires every day and me to get and keep moving. She is one of my heroines, just how dedicated and a hard worker she is. She is the oldest of 13 children, and still to this day is working hard."

What are some challenges you’re faced from freshman year to now as a student?

"As a freshman, you face numerous challenges; you are away from home, new friends, and more challenging course work. Because you are away from home, you have to take a lot of responsibilities like waking up on time for class, balancing extra curricular activities, and time management. However, if you start freshmen year off managing your time, you will not face so many challenges."

Lastly before you graduate what are three key things you would like to leave at Tuskegee University as inspiration?

"Leaving an impact at Tuskegee University is one of my goals; if I am able to inspire one person I have reached my goal. I would like to leave a legacy of service, dedication to the student body and our beloved institution, and empowerment to the women on campus."

What are two things you would tell two little girls who maybe want to attend Tuskegee University?

"I would stress to them the importance of keeping a strong mind and morals when attending Tuskegee University."

In conclusion, Morgan continues to reach the top during her time at Tuskegee University. Nothing stands in her way and greatness surely prevails in her future. She has set standards of excellence , determination throughout her life and that's what she plans to give to other this prestigious university. The D.E.A.N's list will continue to prevail.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
