Having your older sister as a best friend is one of the best things I can ask for. Being the younger one is even better. Truth is when you are best friends with your sister no matter whose older or younger, you have a best friend for life. The two of you can fight all you want but you always come back to each other every time. Growing up with my sister as my best friend meant no boring family trips, no boring family dinners, a partner in crime and someone who will never judge your stupid actions.
Being the younger of the duo means a lot of people think that the youngest child has to live in the shadow of the older siblings but for me it wasn't like that. My sister was my biggest supporter in everything that I did. Instead of trying to be the "golden child" and making me have to live in her shadows, she did everything to make me feel like I was just as good as her. She made it to as many of my tennis matches as possible and stayed for the entire thing no matter how long it went on. She would help me study for my test in subjects she was better at than I am. She made sure that I was confident in everything I did and made sure people knew about it.
Having my older sister as my best friend also meant being adored by her best friend. Whenever I see her best friend she is just as excited to see me when she sees her. She always give me the best advice when I need it and is always as protective as my sister is. Her best friend has pretty much become my second older sister. We get alone like my sister and I do, we give each other attitude and we always have a good laugh when we see each other.
A perk of having you sister as your best friend when you're the younger on is getting spoiled. Whether its lunch, clothes or even just a gag gift, my sister never fails to spoil me. Yes I do spoil her every once in a while but not as much as she spoils me. That's the best part about being the younger one. Its also fun being the younger one because you get to learn from their mistakes. My sister always made sure I didn't make the same mistakes as her to make sure I wouldn't get hurt. When I made my own stupid mistakes that she didn't make, she would always be there to get me through it. I've never gotten through anything without my sister and I couldn't imagine her not being there.
Having your older sister as a best friend is truly a blessing. When people tell me they're not close with their sisters, it blows my mind. They've gone through everything with you because they have too and they want too. They're always by your side no matter what because family will always be there and always love you. I've learned to take advantage of my sisterhood and thankfully I got the best friend in the entire world.
