A best friend is who you tell everything to and are practically siblings with. But, what if you had the same name as them? Well, in my case my best friend does have the same name as me, Shelby. Yes, it's pretty convenient but it can also get pretty strange. These are some of the things people go through with having a best friend with the same name as them.
1. Talking about them to others.
Especially to new people, people think you are either talking about yourself or just talking to yourself. You always get the common "Shelby? Isn't that you?" Like no one else in the world has the same name as me?
2. Parties.
At any get together at all really, people are expecting you two to be together. Yes because we are best friends, but also because we have the same name. So without Shelby Squared at the party, is it really a party? (And yes she's the Amy to my Tina.)
3. Parents.
Each of our parents have to call us by different names to get our attention. Shelby number 1 and Shelby number 2. You're also there for when their family has family meetings and you always somehow get involved in them. We basically have two sets of parents and that's alright with them because they don't have to remember a different name.
4. Friends.
Everything that one is invited to, you are automatically invited. You both have the same friends and they know when they yell your name, both of you will give them a response. I think they do it on purpose to mess with us, but gotta love them.
5. School.
When you have class together, of course you will do everything to sit next to each other (especially if you hate everyone else in the class). This does make it harder for teachers though and they will ask you to separate because 1. Same names and 2. Y'all probably talk through the whole period.
All in all, it's pretty awesome to have a best friend with the same name as you. It's basically like having a sister that your parents named the same as you so they wouldn't get your names confused.
