Growing up in a Christian home with Christian parents has taught me many things. It took me a long time to separate their faith from my own faith. When you grow up in a Christian home with a Christian family it can be very easy to cling on to what your parents believe and think that it is enough to save you. This is not the case. It is important to find out what you believe. You may never fully understand what you may believe. That is why it is so important to ask questions to try and decipher what it is that you hold as the truth. A good place to start is simply to decide if you even believe in God, once you answer that, then you can decide if you want to put your life in His hands and believe in what He has to say.
The big question of "How do you know if God is real?" is one of the heaviest questions to try and answer. It can be hard to believe in something that is in most cases invisible. Believing in God is like believing in gravity. You can't see it, but you know it is there. An enormous part of believing in God is to have faith and put your life in his hands. I know God is real because I can see Him in the face of a stranger who shows me an act of kindness. I have heard God when I go to church and the preacher just happens to be talking about something that hits close to home, and I mean word for word what I am going through. (God is funny that way).
I will see God when I turn the radio on randomly and a song is playing that will calm me down and it is exactly what I need to hear. I have prayed and received no answers, and I have prayed and received many answers. Sometimes the answer to my prayers appears in a way that I did not expect. Most people think that God will just walk in and sit us down and just tell us what we need to do. At least that is what we all are hoping for. Even though He will not do this, He will still be with us no matter what we go through. God has got this. You just have to have faith. I know He is real because of experiences that either I or a friend have gone through.
It is also weird to think that God has our whole life planned. He knows everything that is going to happen. He knows what we are going to wear tomorrow. He knows what dress or suit you are going to wear to your graduation. He knows your kids' names and how many you may or may not have. He has your spouse picked out for you. The schedule you will have for work is already worked out in His mind. Where you are going live is just sitting there waiting for you because He knows that you will be there someday. He knows how and exactly when you will die.
Now isn't that the most amazing and craziest thing you have ever heard? If you think that there is no point in your life, then think again. God has a purpose and a plan. All you need to do is actively search for what that plan is and live it out. Everyone is here for some reason. There are definitely times when I have felt like there was no purpose to anything I am doing. Those thoughts leave as quickly as they come though because when I have felt that way God put someone in my life to tell me the impact that I have had on their life. You never know what your impact will be on someone. I just hope that it is a positive one.
