You may think you know how to have a good time, but when it comes to the best holiday, you need to make sure you're celebrating the right way. Whether you're on spring break or at school, here are a few personal tips to keep your St. Patrick's Day week lit.
1. Go out with people who can handle their liquor.
It's never a good night when you need to carry your friend out of a party at 11 p.m. because she's yakking all over the bathroom. Bring someone along who can babysit for you or pregame with a different group of people. Tell your friend you'll meet up with her later, if she even makes it to the party.
2. Know your limits.
Don't be that friend who needs to be dragged out of a party at 11 p.m. because you're yakking all over the bathroom. If you're a lightweight and you know it, don't try to show off and take five shots in a row. A) nobody's watching you, specifically, taking shots so who are you showing off for? B) you're lucky if you only have to taste 2 or 3 shots to get drunk, take advantage of it.
3. Go all out.
Don't be afraid to have fun! Dress up, wear stickers on your face, put some green and gold necklaces on, and don't worry if you're the only one who's showing off their Irish pride-because you're definitely not.
4. Make plans.
Don't just assume some frat's going to be throwing down or that one of your friends is going to have a party in their apartment. Get yourself out there and ask around for some solid plans. Also, make sure you have back up plans. Multiple back up plans are needed, in case a few parties get capped or just aren't as fun as you thought they would be.
5. Watch out for the guys who think they're going to "get lucky."
Be prepared for the corny pick up lines like "Kiss me, I'm Irish" or "Top of the morning to you... actually, I'd like to be on top of you in the morning." In all seriousness though, watch out for grimy dudes and leprechaun-looking lads. Don't feel bad if they ask for your number, you don't owe it to them. Who cares what anyone thinks of you? Leave his sorry butt behind and go find the pong table.
6. Most importantly, have fun!
It's St. Paddy's Day! Turn up, go all out, have the best time of your life. This is the only holiday for drinking, so make the most of it. Don't worry about people judging you because, honestly, who's going to remember this weekend anyway?
