Going through beginning Christian classes we're taught a few funadmentals every Sunday: Love God, Love your Neighbor, Don't steal, etc. All very easy things. However with the advent of Evangelism it's become increasingly difficult for many Christians to follow those key commandments. Especially when it comes to loving your neighbor.
The problem is many of these extreme Christians have filtered through the normal groups and decided that taking things out of context is the best way. For example many people point to Leviticus to say that homosexuality is an abomination. You know what else is an abomination: Eating shellfish, wearing multi fabric items, having a loved one stay with you while on your period. Also what's interesting is the word used is qedesh which means prostitute. The passage is only used to refer to male prostitutes who did their business on the steps of the temples. Another thing they take out of context is Sodom and Gomorrah, while it's true that the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah raped the angels, however the bigger picture was that they were invited in, and then raped. The difference between those citizens and Lot was one thing: Lot had hospitality in mind. He treated his guests well, whereas the citizens did not. If it was because of sexual immorality that got Sodom and Gomorrah wiped off the map, then so would Lot. However, because he had the sense to treat his guests well, he and his daughters were spared. Despite the fact that 1) God is omnipotent, and 2) His own daughters essentially raped him. That would have had both he and his daughters killed immediately if sexual immorality was the problem.
The thing with this is that they ripe the verses out of the original context and warp it to how they want. Despite the fact that as Christians they are supposed to act as Christ did. Chirst never judged those and sinful and held them in contempt...unless they were tax collectors or the Pharisees. He would treat members of the LGBTQA community with love and with understanding. All of the examples where it was looked like homosexuality is a sin, are taken out of it's context and either explained that God would look down on those who hid their true nature ie: The ones who are victims of repression theory and actual pedophiles.
The truth of the matter is that these "Chrisitans" aren't Christian and don't act on Christ's behalf. To be a Christian means that you act as Christ did. They are nothing but Pharisees and should be disregarded.
