Whether it is an ex-boyfriend or a girl who has crossed the line one too many times, we all have our haters.
With over seven billion people in the world, you are bound to not like a few of them, and they may not be so fond of you either, but we need to realize that this is perfectly okay. There are far too many positives things in the world to let our haters get us down.
Here are my five quick and easy tips so that you can kiss those Debbie Downers goodbye for good.
Out of sight, out of mind. In a world run by social media, we know anything and everything about one another. We know the second someone gets engaged, to the moment someone got dumped, and if you are constantly seeing the face of someone who wronged you it will not lead to good outcomes. If you don’t want to see someone you don’t like, then don’t; it is that simple! Hit that unfollow button and do it with pride!
Surround yourself with positive people. While the world is severely infested with Negative Nancys, there are still a decent amount of good-hearted people. Find the ones who remind you that all girls aren’t complete psychopaths and that true friendships still exist. Don’t befriend the girls who have made Facebook and Twitter their "dear diary" entries and find a complaint in just about everything. Finding friends who bring you up is one of the most important aspects of forgetting those who don’t.
Let yourself feel all of the feelings. As clever a saying as, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me," may be, we all know that is complete crap. When people are rude to us, it hurts our feelings, but that is okay! One of the wisest things my grandmother ever told me was that it is okay to cry because it shows you have a heart. If someone hurts your feelings, know that it is okay to deal with it in order to move on and let go. Holding on to anger is like holding a ticking time bomb and waiting for it to explode. Don’t be the girl who is known for freaking out on everyone. Let emotions happen and move on.
Look good, feel good. One of the most important things every girl should live by is to dress like you are about to meet the man of your dreams or run into your worst enemy. The way we look and present ourselves has a tremendous effect on our mood. Be confident in who you are, and know that you are beautiful. You will be brushing off those jerks in no time!
Hindsight is 20/20. Don’t waste time on the could’ve, should’ve, would’ve routine. Wasting time on regrets is one of the easiest ways to ruin your day. Everything happens for a reason. Even if something did not work out, it still had a purpose. Looking in the past will only hurt you more. Keep your head up, and continue to move forward with a smile on your face!
