I know that I have my comfort TV shows, and I'm sure you do too, but sometimes putting Grey's Anatomy on a loop just isn't cutting it for me. So here are the top five movies for when you need just a little extra pep in your step.
1. "Someone Great"
Netflix
This movie right here is amazing. The soundtrack alone is killer; "Supercut" will forever be on my master playlist. And Lizzo? Enough said. The comic relief mixed with all the emotions of ending a long term relationship, while showcasing powerhouse women, puts this Netflix Original at the top of any movie list I make. Funny and relatable, it's the best to turn on anytime you need a little basic joy. It's streaming now on Netflix, and I definitely recommend you check it out if you haven't already.
2. "Mamma Mia!"
Amazon
This is a personal favorite of mine. With the music, the all star cast, and the amazing aesthetic, "Mamma Mia" and its sequel are my most-watched movies of all time. The vibes alone are iconic and smile-inducing. Though, fair warning, the ending of the second one always makes me cry - in a good way! You can stream it free with Starz or rent it from Amazon.
3) "Coyote Ugly"
Amazon
"Coyote Ugly" is probably the single most slept on "cult classic." Piper Perabo is such an underrated actress it literally kills me. Her and Tyra Banks, yes Tyra Banks, make me want to drop out of school and be a coyote every single time I watch them in action. This movie deserves all the hype, but it is a little harder to stream. You can rent it through Amazon for just $3.99, though.
4. "To All The Boys I've Loved Before"
Netflix
I'm pretty sure I would actually pass out if Noah Centineo put his hand in my back pocket, and I will forever be amazed at how Lana Condor not only doesn't pass out but is an absolute queen throughout the entire movie. The sweet secret romance and loving family is enough to put a smile on anyone's face. This masterpiece is a Netflix original and currently streaming on their platform.
5. "What a Girl Wants"
Netflix
A true American classic. This is a true feel good movie - you'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll be satisfied when the credits roll. Honestly, any Amanda Bynes movie is a good movie. But the setting, the plot, and the cast here all come together to create a masterpiece. Plus, the "Princess Diaries" vibes are just immaculate. This early 2000s icon is currently streaming on Netflix. Also, as I'm sure you noticed, this was not Colin Firth's only appearance on this list, and I don't think that's a coincidence.
