Happy Father’s Day to my mom! Yes you read that right. My mom is my mom, but she also has to take the place of my dad because he chose to leave me. There was a time in my life when he was an amazing father that loved me and seemed to do everything he could for me, but one day that all changed. One day, he decided he didn’t want to be a part of the family anymore. One day, he stopped loving me. But my mom never stopped. She stayed.
My mother for the past 10ish years has made me into the woman I am today all on her own. She has taught me to be independent. She has taught me to be strong in rough times. She has taught me the “girly” things a mother needs to teach her daughter. She has also taught me the “boy” things my father should have taught me. My mother hasn’t had any back up in arguments against me because my father wasn’t there. She had to pay for everything on her own because she didn’t have that second income coming in from him. She didn’t have a partner in crime while raising me, she had to do it alone.
So here is to all the mothers that have to take on both roles. Raising a child, or more than one child, all on their own. They are so important and a very special kind of mother. They are strong, they are protective, and they tend to love with all they have.
Happy Father’s Day Mom! You need to be appreciated today. I mean let’s be real you should be appreciated every day but sometimes we forget. So on this day, I am here to remind you that you are loved and I am thankful for everything you do. You do what other mothers do all of the time, but you also had to do things that most fathers do too. And you did it all alone. I love you!
