“When an 85-pound mammal licks your tears away, then tries to sit on your lap, it’s hard to feel sad.” -Kristan Higgins
In this world that is full of so much selfishness and cruelty, there is always one absolutely unselfish and perfect friend we can have. They would never desert us, act ungrateful, or use us for their own gain, they will only show you unconditional love and affection because to them we are the best thing since sliced bread Love is all they have and the only thing they need. A dog -- a fluffy, slobbery, love machine -- is the only thing on this earth that is capable of loving you more than they love themselves.
As I was lying in bed after rough day, my dog came bursting into my room and proceeded to make herself comfortable on my pillow. She never left my side until I was ready to face the world, she still never leaves my side until i'm ready to face the world, and that always leaves me wondering how I got so lucky. How could an animal that’s an 1/8 my size be filled with more love than any person I’ve ever met.
No matter how bad of a day I’m having it's hard to feel sad when I can always count on one little furball to greet me at the door with nothing but pure excitement when I come home or jump on my bed hide under the blankets with me. Dogs have a way of finding the person who needs them more than they need the person. They have a way of opening up our hearts and teaching us what love really is, they show us what true humanity looks like more than actual humans do, and they have a way of letting you know that you as long as they are by your side you will always feel loved and never feel alone.
We could learn a lot from dogs. We could learn to love more and care less, we could learn to enjoy the little things and stop worrying about the big things, and we could learn to more selfless and less self absorbed. Actually, we should be more like dogs.
