6 Real Things That Happen After Finals

We (barely) got through finals. Now what?

Look at you, you made it. Finals week is over and you destroyed it (which could be good or bad). So now what? Well, since you're no longer stressed with everything the semester brings, everything goes into a downhill holiday spiral from here.

The Immediate Post-Final Crash

The immediate post-final crash is awesome. This is when you get done with all your finals, the exhaustion hits you full force, and you let it. Why? Because you know you can go home and flop onto the nearest piece of furniture and just sleep. And it doesn't matter when you need to get up again, because you're done. After my finals, I went back to my apartment and slept for close to four hours and it was the best thing ever.

The Holiday Rush

Since we're in the end-of-fall-semester mode here, it's the holiday season. So, once you get done with class, have a bit of a "restart" period, and actually get off campus, there's the realization that it's the holiday season. Yes, the holiday season, which can be pretty chill or stressful depending on how you take it. I mean, you get to see your family again, but you also get hit with the uncomfortable/stressful questions like: "what are you doing after you graduate," "what's your major/what are you going to do with that in the real world," "why are you still single?"

*Lolz nope. Not about the family interrogation we're having here. Thanks though.*

Actual Relaxation

College break is awesome mainly because you have close to a month where you don't have to do anything. You don't have any papers, any readings, any social or organizational obligations. And after the rush of the holidays, you really don't have much to do before spring semester starts up. This is a great time to treat yourself. Travel somewhere (be careful, especially if you live in a place where you're lucky enough to deal with snow and ice). Stay in and binge watch everything on Netflix. Connect with old friends or friends that go to different universities. Take all the time you need for yourself.

Lull in the Break

I've found over the duration of my college years that there's only so much time I can stay in my little hometown before I HAVE to go back home (campus. Ha, I call both campus and hometown home, sorry for any confusion). There will be a point where you will miss your college friends like crazy- mainly because you're all not concentrated in one location. But it's also because it's such a long time to be home. A whole month basically. And there's only so much you can do without feeling the need to do at least something a little more than watch Netflix or sleep. (Or maybe that's just me.)

Back to Campus

Again, in my experience, I find my return to campus to be a triumphant one. I got all the rest and relaxation I needed, I spent time with family, and I get hyped for the next semester. If you go back early enough there's usually a few basketball games scattered periodically throughout the week, which is nice. And if you go back early enough it's like you basically rule campus (which is pretty empty).

Enjoy Your Break

Basically, enjoy your break. Treat yo'self. You've earned it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
