As I'm sure you've all heard, the new groundbreaking musicalHamilton has been sweeping the nation and has become one of the most popular musicals of all time. But Hamilton is much more than just another musical--it is changing the face of Broadway as we know it.

Hamilton is about one of the forgotten about founding fathers--Alexander Hamilton. It tells the story of his life and his role in American history. It's a good, fun history lesson for kids, which is definitely a plus.

The creator, Linh-Manuel Miranda, is also known for his work on the musical In the Heights on Broadway several years ago. He was inspired after reading the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. It took him upwards of 6 years to write the music, lyrics, and book, but he did it. Not only did he create the musical, but he also stars in it as the lead role, Alexander Hamilton. Linh-Manuel Miranda created an amazing musical that changed Broadway and is making musical history.

One thing that makes Hamilton so different from all of the other musicals is that the music is mainly hip hop and rap. This is much different from the show tunes that every other Broadway musical entails. This rap and hip hop style makes it more appealing to people who aren't normally into musicals because they don't usually like the music.

Hamilton was nominated for a record-breaking 16 Tony Awards, and won 11 of them. It was definitely the highlight of the Tony's, with three performances throughout the night. Unfortunately with tickets costing upwards of $200, it isn't very affordable to see it. But there is a $10 lottery system for the whole front row where the winners are announced two hours before the show.

But while not all of us will be able to see it for awhile until the prices go down, there are always youtube videos and the entire Original Cast album is on Spotify. This way, everyone can experience the magic that is Hamilton.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
