With Halloween coming up, I got to thinking about some of my favorite Halloween memories from childhood. One year I used a pillowcase for my trick-or-treat bag instead of my usual tiny basket. I got so much more candy! Another time, I was dressed up as Angelica from Rugrats, and while I walked around I found other kids dressed up like all the other Rugrats. We decided to walk around all together, and everyone went crazy! I asked a few people what some of their favorite memories were, and these were their responses!

1. Drunk Neighbors

"My goofy neighbors were drunk when they answered the door. It was one of the many years I was Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, and he was like, 'LOOK, HONEY, IT'S ANNIE!!!'"

2. Zombie Prom

"One year a group of friends and I were walking toward the meetup for our local zombie walk, and we were all dressed in formal wear but zombified. A lady was at a stop sign, and she leaned out her window and asked if we were going to prom. We turned to look at her, and she goes 'OH!' and floors it. We laughed for like three days."

3. Mommy Costume

"My mom was passing out candy while my dad took my older brothers out and I was a newborn. A little girl came up and said, 'Mommy, I know what she is for Halloween! A new mommy!'"

4. Everybody Loves Reese's

"Making deals with my parents over which candy I could eat. We always battled over the Reese's!"

5. Blues Clues

"Dressing up as Blue from 'Blue's Clues' because literally no other kid had the same costume as me. I even had paw prints to lay around the house."

6. Old Costumes

"I remember those old costumes with the plastic masks that you could barely see out of, and they came with a plastic 'shirt' that made you sweat like crazy. I was a Care Bear one year, and it was a very hot Halloween so it wasn't pretty when I got home, but worth it!"

7. To Grandmother's House We Go

"Decorating my grandma's house with her and my cousins. We were almost always the only ones that trick or treated there, but it didn't matter to us."

8. Rural Trick-Or-Treating

"My mother driving me around, in the snow, to trick or treat. We lived in the back mountain of northeastern Pennsylvania and houses were all a mile away from each other. She drove me from house to house of people we knew and family members. Aunt Clara gave me a popcorn ball. It was delicious. And my mom's friend, Sandy, gave me a candy apple."

9. Hives

"I broke out into serious hives when my friend, who was my neighbor, tried to hold my hand while trick-or-treating. Not really my favorite memory, but entertaining at the least."

10. Confused Grandma

"My girlfriend and I dressed as Sid Vicious and Nancy one year, and this old lady thought we were both boys."

Halloween is such a fun holiday, and I can't wait for it this year to make new memories! From dressing up, passing out candy and everything in between, it's sure to be a great night! I hope these memories brought you some joy! Have a happy Halloween!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
