Let's throw it back to maybe... 12 years ago when Halloween was meant for trick-or-treating until we've collected enough candy to stock us up until the end of the year. The Halloween hype was BIG. We planned what we wanted to be for next Halloween months in advance. Those were the years we didn't procrastinate of course. During the elementary school days, we took Halloween just as seriously as we do in college, just not at the same level, obviously. Here are some points that'll trigger your memories, and send you back in time.

1. The Halloween specials on Disney Channel.

Twitches! Halloweentown! Casper!! What more could we ask for?

2. Deciding who's house to meet up for trick-or-treating.

The key was always to choose the friend's house who had the most houses in the neighborhood. More houses meant more candy... duh!!!

3. The first Halloween costume you picked instead of your mom.

Most of us remember how exciting it was to finally be able to pick your Halloween costume. If you have siblings, it was also probably the same year you didn't have to dress the same. Sorry, mom :)

4. Going to school in your costume.

The excitement!! Dress up day was always the best. Wearing our costumes to school and having a Halloween party with decorated sugary sweets was always a 10/10.

5. Happy Halloween to everyone except to the person who handed out fruits instead of candy.

There was always that one house that drew ghosts with sharpies on the outside of tangerines. Only one question though... WHY???

6. Seeing someone in the same costume was just as bad as seeing someone in the same prom dress as you.

You backstabbing, spotlight stealer, copycat.

7. Shout out to the homies who handed out full-sized candy. The real MVPs.

A full pack of Starbursts? A full bar of snickers!? Thank you, just thank you.

8. All your parents wanted to do was take pictures, all you wanted to do was find candy.

"Give me candy or no pics."

9. Having to say what your costume was at every doorstep.

"Look at you! What are you dressed as?"

10. When they asked, "Aren't you a little too old to be trick or treating?"

No, No I am not.

11. Competing to see who got more candy at the end of the night.

At the end of the night, we all counted and weighed how much candy we collected. The one with the most candy was the winner!!

12. Trading candy between your friends.

I'll trade you the snickers bar for the box of pink and purple nerds. Going once, going twice, SOLD!

13. When your parents tried sending you to bed while you were high on sugar.

It only took about two hours to actually fall asleep after all that candy we ate.

14. Hiding your candy because you knew your parents would take half of it to work the next morning.

Never succeeded though... they always found our secret stash. :(

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
