“Blues Haikus (Gone Away)”
My lady left me.
She ain’t comin’ back no more—
She’s gone, gone away.
Our house was emptied,
Her items had disappeared—
And my money too.
She’s gone, gone away.
I could smell the scent
Of her cherry-aired perfume
And also cologne!
She’s gone, gone away.
Took a one-way flight
Out of my life, straight into
Another man’s arms.
She’s gone, gone away.
And when I found out
That she had betrayed our love,
I sat down and cried.
She’s gone, gone away.
I’m shattered, baby!
I’m broken down forever more—
Nothin’ left to say.
You’re gone, gone away.
