It’s the place where we played as kids and learned to turn stumps into thrones, branches into swords and streams into raging rapids. We learned how to make the best out of our hometowns, but I get it, it gets old after a while.
Living in the same town for your entire childhood can leave you yearning for new places, new perspectives, and new people. We crave adventure and it is in our best interest as growing adults to branch out and experience other cultures. Yet after I moved across the country from Seattle to upstate New York, I saw that part of the value of experiencing new places is learning that there really is no place like home. So to the town that I grew up in, however much I may have wanted to leave, this is for you.
I really like you,
but I didn’t know, until
I left you behind.
