Tinder has become one of the most popular dating apps among millennials. As a veteran Tinder user, I have come across some pretty bad profiles that make me wonder what the person was thinking when they made them. So, I decided to write a list of do's and don'ts of creating the perfect Tinder profile. These tips will hopefully help guys recognize what is possibly turning off the girl of their dreams.
1. Distasteful Pictures
Pictures with drugs, alcohol, and girls in compromising positions are not what people want to see. Throwing up the middle finger in a shirtless mirror selfie will turn a lot of girls off as well. You want to show that you can have fun, but there shouldn't be more than one or two party pics.
2. Offensive Bios
If you're trying to attract a girl, calling them b*tches, sl*ts, and other insults in your bio will not get you any matches. Saying "no fat chicks" is mean and unnecessary, just swipe left if you're not interested!
3. No Bio at All
Although people will mostly judge you on your appearance, you give yourself a better chance if you have a clever bio that showcases your personality. Even if you're not a girl's type physically, she might swipe right if you have an intriguing bio.
4. No Variety in Pictures
Too many selfies make you look shallow, vain, and like you don't have friends. But if you only have group pictures, no one can tell who you are. Maybe include a picture of your favorite hobbies, such as running, playing the guitar, or painting. It's a great conversation starter.
5. Being Dishonest
Do not put something in your bio because you think it's something that girls want to hear. Cliches and overused quotes seem disingenuous. If you're not looking for anything serious, say so. It's better to be upfront and honest than to be misleading.
The Takeaway: If you do any of these things, you're not necessarily a terrible person and you don't have to change your profile if you don't want to. However, you may be putting an image of yourself across that will not be well received. Follow my tips and you may be more successful at getting matches. Happy swiping!
