Elf, by far is my favorite Christmas movie. One could even say I'm a little obsessed. So here is New York guide for everyone else who is just obsessed with Elf as I am.
When Buddy first got to New York City he did the typical tourist thing; wandered the streets and explored. Since his mission was to find his father he needed to go where Walter Hobb's worked. Walter worked in the Empire State Building which is located on 5th Ave and 34th Street. (Walter's apartment was located on 55 Central Park West in the Upper West Side where Buddy later stayed.)
As Walter's security guards threw Buddy out of the Empire State Building they told him to go back to Gimbels; which in the film is a very famous Christmas store. In reality Gimbles is actually the Macy's that is located on 34th Street.
At Gimbels Buddy met Jovie and she agreed to go on a date with him. For their date they wandered around the city where they eventually ended up at Rockefeller Center to see the giant Christmas tree.
When Santa finally flies over the city and unfortunetly runs into some problems with his sleigh he lands somewhere in Central Park (mid-park, around 72nd Street) where Buddy, Michael, and Jovie save the day and save Christmas morning.
